What We Believe
San Diego is one of the most naturally beautiful places on Earth. We built sandiego.eco because we believe it deserves a platform that takes its environmental identity as seriously as its sunshine.
We started as a newsletter. We grew into a platform. Today we’re a community of residents, visitors, and advocates who share a common belief: that sustainability isn’t a niche interest — it’s the future of how we live here.

We don't take advertising from businesses we cover. Our listings and recommendations are purely merit-based and community-verified.

2020
sandiego.eco founded as a newsletter during the pandemic with 200 subscribers.
2021
First Eco Business Directory launched with 40 verified listings.
2022
Beach conservation initiative launched in partnership with Surfrider Foundation SD.
2023
Platform redesigned. 10,000 monthly readers. 300+ eco businesses listed.
2024
Sustainable Living Guide launched. First annual Eco Awards ceremony held.
2025
Expanding to cover all of San Diego County. New beaches and nature guide released.
